Yes. I'm still very much the proud prude, and very conservative looking. It's who I am. Won't change, really. Quite comfortable being like this.

would someone still mistake you for a witness?

for those of you who will be disgusted that i even attended the meeting, let alone allow my son to give his first public talk tonight, please, spare me the shouting messages.
i take full responsibility for what i experienced this evening.
yet, i feel the need to share this experience that has me enraged.

Sorry about this ordeal.

i have just witnessed for myself one of the most hypocritical scenes ever before in my life!
my sister's ex husband, ( father to 3 boys, 12, 15, 20 years) commited suicide a few days ago.
he has been a jehova's witness all of his life and and also suffered from bi polar disorder for most of it also, particularly bad in the past 3 years.

i know i did.. we had a young fellow who used to live at my grandmother's place.
in may ways he was like family.
after he moved out of my grandmother's place i saw him frequently.
I was never very good at shunning others. I thought it was so rude to do so.

was there a comment made at a meeting that finally convinced you, this is not right?
for me a couple of months ago was in the service meeting, they stated that if the children didnt finish their homework because they were studying the bible or at a meeting that teachers should understand that their meetings and study are more important.
i looked at my wife and went "what"?
One time, a long time ago, while out in service, we saw a bird eating roadkill and this 'loving brother' (yeah, right!) said: "Soon the birds will have a feast eating so much flesh after Armageddon". Then, everyone in the van broke out laughing and saying how they just "couldn't wait!"
I thought such comment, and with the tone of voice and the facial expression it was said, was among the most horrible things I had heard ever!
It only made me more determined to leave the cultish mindset of the WBTS.

did you ever feel bad for your kids that they couldnt celebrate holidays, birthdays, salute the flag, etc.
i am sure looking back now it must hurt somewhat and maybe you feel bad, but did you ever feel bad when you believd it was the true religion?
i am just curious.
I feel really bad for my nieces and nephews. It's just so sad for them around holiday time. They miss school days just to avoid the pressure. The little ones don't understand why they get sent to the library or to the principal's office whenever there's a little birthday celebration for one of the other kids in the classroom.
No extra-curricular activities or sports, or contact with any other classmates that aren't JWs.
They're missing so much and their little minds already thinking that everyone that's not a JW is an evil person and will be destroyed very soon.
So very sad.

beards!
in my congregation it is frowned apon.
a male can have one but he wouldnt get any privilidges and would probably be labeled the black sheep.
I don't like beards on men. I don't even like mustaches, long sideburns, or long hair on men either.
But that's just my personal preference.

has anybody launched a preemptive strike so to say on the witnesses and shunned them before they shunned you?
I do reverse shunning all the time, when I attend the seldom meeting. I walk in and just shoot straight for where my relatives are.
Greeters and all other crowd that usually gathers by the entrance door to do the love-bombing, all get passed over. I don't even make eye contact with most of them at the KH.
I see them in public places/stores, and pretend they're just like any other unknown person in there.
You see, I'm practicing for what's to come very soon.
